Babydoll sheep and sustainably grown produce

Located in the NSW near Bungendore, Roogulli Farm is a small family farm producing mixed fruit and vegetables and breeding Shropshires and Babydoll type Southdown sheep.
The sustainable landscape design for the Roogulli Farm gardens, while somewhat lapsed due to taking up sheep farming, has won a number of national awards and been featured in magazines and a book.

Our sheep

We have almost finished selling our sheep for Summer 2022-23. If you have missed out, we have purebred Southdown ewes and ewe lambs with woolly faces available to be ordered in our bulk buy by 13 February 2023. These can be registered ASSBA Southdown and BSBA Babydoll (not ASSBA Babydoll).

Purebred Babydoll ewe and lambs
We run several sheep stud flocks - think quality not quantity. The Roogulli Babydoll flock is dual registered as ASSBA Southdown and BSBA Babydoll. That gives us access to all sorts of handy genetics as we work with other breeders to develop a Babydoll breed for Australia. Our rare-breed Shropshire flock is registered as ASSBA Shropshire.

Our sheep produce wool and meat. They are also popular as friendly, energy-efficient lawnmowers for vineyards, orchards and small farms.

We aim to produce nutritious and clean local food and be as self sufficient as possible. The animals in our system keep nutrients cycling and provide fertiliser for our market garden.

Science of wicking beds

We have grown food in wicking beds for many years. Roogulli Farm has been used to research why and how wicking beds work in a university research project.
